Since graduating in 1985 with a DDS from Marquette University, Dr. Dean also obtained her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from First National University in November 2001, a fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry, July 1999 and a fellowship with the International Academy of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, November 1997.  She has kept abreast her profession through extensive training with the School of Sleep Medicine Palo Alto, the Osteopathic Cranial Academy and Dr. Vida Trymann, D.O., Osteopathic Physician of California, the Osteopathic College of Canada, The American Academy of Pain Management, The American Academy of Head, Neck and Facial Pain,  The Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The Wellness Center’s comprehensive care is concerned with the whole body, mind and spirit to foster a healthy foundation upon which to build your life.  The Wellness Center serves a general family practice with the complete body management programs designed to address whole body health.

The dental practice offers the latest in restorative and aesthetic dental techniques along with treatments for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and dental sleep disorders.  Sleep disordered breathing encompasses conditions including sleep apnea, snoring, daytime fatigue, airway blockage that can result in gasping for air at night, anxiety and breathlessness, sexual dysfunction, depression and irritability.  It takes a multidisciplinary approach to treat these problems effectively. We fabricate custom-fitted oral appliances for obstructive sleep apnea, especially for mild to moderate cases where patients prefer oral appliances to CPAP devices.  Obstructive sleep apnea is associated with serious chronic health problems, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

Currently, Dr. Dean supports the Kids On The Move America, a non-profit program by running a 12 month program targeting 11 to 14 year old at risk ethnically diverse, low income girls and boys in Alameda County.  She and her team empower the youth on the essentials of life for healthier life styles, cooking, gardening, reading, educational skills and life skills all to inspire children have hope and purpose to function.

Dr. Dean is a catalyst for the Wellness Center and is committed to giving back to her community in public health matters.  She is an advocate for the community and with her prayer group, prays with the sick and homebound in the Alameda Community on weekends with her church.

We seek to partner with our patients for optimal whole body health and welcome your appointment request. To learn more about TMJ and Sleep Apnea, visit our Patient Education Page.
